This week in the Detroit Church of Christ, Mark Kang continues the series called 'Reflect, Rejoice, Renew'. He shares from the books of Nehemiah, Proverbs, and Hebrews. Mark helps us understand that often those who are the most joyful are familiar with hardship and suffering, but they choose to be giving, serving, and loving to others. He reminds us how fatigue is real in our spiritual walk. To stay refreshed we have to live a life of sacrifice and understanding.

This week in the Detroit Church of Christ, Mark Kang continues the series called 'Reflect, Rejoice, and Renew'. Mark shares from the books of Mark, 1st Corinthians, and Ephesians. He helps us understand that without repentance and change, there is no renewal. That change requires courage, and how we must 'let go' of the sin in our life that we have been hanging on to. We must no longer follow our sinful instinct, but prayerfully follow Jesus and his teachings.

This week in the Detroit Church of Christ, Kyle Eastman, from the Ann Arbor Church (west region), and Mark Kang begin the new year with two messages, each guiding us to a new beginning.
Kyle discusses how Jesus can work through our lives much like a person who is going through rehab from addictions. That we first have to believe in Him, and then be open and vulnerable to change. It is through this vulnerability that we will grow stronger, and can better help others around us to heal as well.
Mark, sharing from Exodus, Romans, and Proverbs, reminds us to put our whole hearts into rejoicing in the Lord and what we have been given. How we must examine our convictions on the 'line' of sin in our lives (and not to simply see what we can get away with). That with a vision for what God can give us, we can receive restoration and renewal in our lives.

Mark's lesson focuses on the words of Jesus in Mathew chapter 6, where he says 'Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth'. Mark reminds us that 'What you focus on each day impacts every other aspect of your life'. How a man or woman of God asks 'How can I use what I’ve been given for others?' That we must view our life in the light of eternity, and to pursue the heart of God and a heart of generosity.

This week in the Detroit Church of Christ, Mark Kang continues the series called 'Citizens'. Mark shares from the book of Philippians and others what it means for our identity to be a citizen of God's Kingdom. As we follow Jesus, we must have a firm understanding that Jesus is Lord, an understanding of repentance, of the requirement of baptism, and that we must stand firm in our faith. In order to be citizens of God's Kingdom we are to be a people of wisdom and people of hope.

How we can choose to follow the direction of demons. He challenges us that we must not follow the demons of lust, greed, or division, that cause destruction, but put on the helmet of salvation and carry the sword of the Spirit to battle the evil one.

He reminds us that some disciples in their life can get hurt, and get stuck along their journey. We have to keep our eyes on God. That we have to understand the journey is about who you are becoming. That true discipleship isn’t about the truth you know, but it’s about the truth you live.

How we should avoid being 'simple' in our thinking as pointed out in the book of Proverbs. He challenges us to model our personal character and the character of our congregation on the qualities of truth and grace we see in Jesus, holding on to one and not letting go of the other.
